Why does Easter move every year?

Easter is a moveable feast because it was deliberately linked to the Jewish Passover, which itself follows the Hebrew lunar calendar. The Council of Nicaea in 325 AD established the formula: Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox.
